My Vision Board — 2021 is My Year!

Whew! We can breathe a little, y’all. 2020 was a bit of a doozy, and I think we can all agree on that one. With COVID-19, police brutality, and the never-ending war of politics, I’m just glad to say that we made it to 2021.

So, to bring in the new year, I decided to make a vision board! I haven’t made one in well over a decade when my middle school had us make one for a homework assignment. I had such big dreams back then, and it’s amazing to think about how many of them have already come true — I graduated college, got married, and I have my own place. I bet 12-year-old Jasmine is super stoked that I’ve done all this by 25. Now, I have new dreams and goals that I would like to see on a big poster board, so I thought it’d be a great idea to create another vision board. It’s not much, but it’s mine, and I hope you like it! There are four key topics that I focused on, and I want to share them with you.

  • Blog

You’ll see right at the very top is my brand new logo for Let’s Flourish Together and the word, “Community”. I also included phrases like, “Think Bigger” and “We Grow Together”. This is to remind me to keep grinding because I am hoping that one day, I’ll be able to make a full-time living from my blog. It’s what I love to do, and it’s my passion, so having that be right at the top inspires me to work harder than I’ve ever worked for anything in my life. It’s not going to be easy, but I’m willing to put in the time, effort, and resources to accomplish my goal of seeing my blog grow!

  • Dreams

I have big dreams that I am speaking into existence right now because sometimes, you have to be your own cheerleader, right? So, one day, I will be on the Ted Talk stage shedding light on my experience with mental health and showing how I’ve used my blog and my experiences to make a positive impact in the online community. I will be sitting at the Red Table with Jada, Willow, and Gammy discussing mental health and promoting therapy. I will be a homeowner within the next ten years. I will be free from these student loan debts and be financially stable. I will travel to places like California and finally go on my honeymoon trip to Hawaii. These dreams will come to fruition because I will put in the work to make it so!

  • I know who I am

Scattered throughout the vision board, you’ll see a lot of titles and images that reinforce what I know about myself. These are titles that I am proud of — I am proud of being a writer because it means that I can share my life experiences through my blogs and connect with you all. I am proud of being a gamer because people look down on adults playing video games, but it doesn’t bother me at all because I get to lose myself in another world and release built-up stress. These are also titles that I’ve forgotten about — I am a poet and a violinist even though it’s been some time since I engaged with a poem or a violin. These are also titles that are near and dear to my heart — I am now a godmother to the most precious Libra baby, who I will talk more about in my next blog (stay tuned 😉).

  • Sometimes, I forget

It’s so difficult for me to remember to drink water because my brain is always on the move during the day, so I forget to take a pause and stay hydrated and have. Same with exercising — I’m so busy during the day that when I finally have time to relax, the last thing I want to do is spend my time working out. But, this is all going to change in the new year. My quarantine body is giving me 2013 “Freshman 15” in college vibes, and I am not here for it 😂. On a more serious note, I also forget that perfection is unobtainable, so striving to be perfect only leads to a disappointed and burned-out Jasmine. I am determined to remember to be as stress-free as possible, and this vision board will definitely help with that.

Ok, ok, enough chit chat! I’m eager to know what you think of my vision board, so please let me know what you think in the comments. Also, if you made your own vision boards, do tag me in them on Instagram because I’d love to see them! I know that 2021 will be a great year, not only for me, but for all of us. If we all continue to work towards our goals and uplift each other along the way, we can all achieve great things. I know we can. Thanks for reading!

  1. I really, really loved this! I’m someone who does vision boards too and I feel like most of the people I surround myself with believe that staying still is okay. And while it absolutely is, it’s not the life for me. I dream really big. It’s so inspiring to see someone in the middle of their journey dreaming even bigger. I wish you all the best of luck on your goals and if there’s anything I can do to help, please don’t hesitate to reach out, you’ve got a new fan! 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for reading and for your kind words, Jacqueline! I feel the exact same way in that staying still is not for me! We’ve got to go for it 100%, and I love that we have the same mentality. I’ll be rooting for you, sis, ALWAYS!

  2. I love the enthusiasm and positivity that’s emanating from this post! I did my own vision board last year and I do find them so useful in being more clear on your goals. Thank you so much for sharing yours, you’ve inspired me to want to create another one for this year! 😀

    1. Yes! I love it when people make vision boards! I’d love to see it if you do make one again! Thanks so so much for reading and commenting! It means so much. ❤️

  3. Great post!! Man I love the new logo. Heres to the Years and Ws to to come!! 🍸🍷🍹🍺

  4. Jasmine, this is so awesome! So as an avid Bucketlister, you know that we love setting goals, dreaming new ideas, and becoming inspired to tackle those ideas! That is way I love this vision board!
I was scrolling through your pics and kept thinking, “what magazines does she subscribe to that she was able to find all of these clippings to paste to her board!” Now I am sure these days most people just snag art from google images but I remember going through all my mom’s magazines to do this!
I love that your biggest goal is to do a Ted Talk! So what are you doing now to prepare for it? Are you doing smaller talks, going on Podcasts, making Instagram Stories? Make sure you are finding ways to acheive those big visions of yours!!

  5. I’m loving your 2021 Vision Board. I have been wanting to do this every year and each year I don’t ever get to it. I do have one in my head though and I guess that is better than nothing. I’m hoping to reach all your goals this year and all those big dreams become realities.

    1. Thanks so much for reading and looking at my vision board. It definitely took some time to put together, but it’s very helpful in giving me a visual reminder of my goals and dreams. I have to look at it every single day, and it motivates me to put all of my effort into making these dreams a reality. Also, congrats on having a vision board in your head! That’s still amazing! I hope your goals and dreams come true!

  6. I’m glad for you that you can be this positive and look so optimistically into the new year and the future. As for me, I feel rather hopeless – here in Europe, 2021 started much worse than 2020 ended.
