Happy New Year — 5 Tips to Make the Most of 2020!

We made it to another year, guys! You know what that means? That means we have a chance to start anew with a clean slate, become better people, and push ourselves to do better! Here are 5 tips to start this new year off with a BANG, and if you stay on it and push through, you can end this year with a bang as well! But, let’s not jump ahead of ourselves just yet 😉 .

If you’re excited for 2020, hopefully this blog will make you more excited. If you’re not too sure or if you feel like this is going to be a bad year, hopefully this blog will change your perspective. Here’s how you can start making the most of 2020 TODAY!

  • Write down your goals for this year.

Make sure that it’s realistic and achievable! Refer back to an old blog I wrote about how to write SMART goals! Be sure to write it down, though — that’s the key. If you write it down, especially in a planner, it helps you stick with it.

  • Let go of any grudges that you’re holding on to.

Life is too short to stay mad about certain things. If there is something that you’re still mad about, try to let it go if you can. That stress can weigh you down, and you don’t want to go into the new year with this baggage!

  • Make a vision board!

I know this sounds so elementary, but it’s definitely worth it. Find some old magazines and newspapers and cut out inspirational words, pictures, or phrases! Then, glue it to a piece of cardboard or paper, and be sure to place it somewhere you can see it everyday. Let it motivate you towards a goal that you want to work towards this year. • Challenge yourself to do something scary or out of your comfort zone.

For me, I always wanted to publish a book of my personal poems, and I am going to work towards that this year! It’s super scary for me because I’m very critical of my own work, and I always told myself that I don’t have time or that it’s just too hard to get published. However, it’s time to stop with the excuses and push myself! Do you have something that seems scary that you may want to try this year? If so, just do it! Remember, you fail at 100% of the things you do not try!

  • Save some money!

Even if you don’t know what you’re saving towards, save some money from each pay check. At the very least, you should have an emergency stash fund. If you already have one, save up for a vacation or for something you’ve always wanted to buy. Treat yourself to something nice because you deserve it.

Sounds fairly simple, right? Not necessarily. It’s going to be hard, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do it. If you stick with it and stay motivated, you can achieve things you didn’t even know were possible! All you need is a person that you trust to hold you accountable so that they can stay on you and keep pushing you when you feel like giving up. You can do ANYTHING that you set your mind to — you just have to go for it and put all your effort into it. Happy New Year!
